However, I’m switching to Adafruit integrated GPS + SD card reader for mechanical simplicity.
I wrote the GPS reading / decoding software myself, very simple using SoftwareSerial.
(Note: since 2014 I got back to separated GPS and card reader, still coming from Adafruit).
